Maasin, Leyte—Cebuano boxers were on a roll as they showed their dominance in the quarterfinal round of the 2014 PLDT-ABAP Visayas Area Boxing Tournament at the Maasin City gym here on Friday.
Junior boys pinweight (46kgs) Rimon Rama and Youth boys lightweight (60kgs) Vicente Casido of the fabled ALA Gym stamped their class after taking down their respective opponents while Marvin Pomar of Cebu City also came out on fire in the Jr. boys pinweight divisioni.
Rama was quick and steady despite the effort of Jerry Mae Pandac of the Leyte Sports Academy, earning a 3-0 win (29-28 29-28; 30-27).
The tall and rangy Casido, for his part, showed his crisp jab-straight combination and tough defense to beat local boy Javier Alemar of Maasin City Team A via a 3-0 (30-27; 29-28; 29-28) decision.
Pomar, meanwhile, did not give Mateo Maquiling of Southern Leyte a chance for an upset, pounding out a 3-0 victory (30-27; 30-27; 30-27) to advance to the semifinal round.
Maasin City Team B’s Shaquel Miole also scored a 3-0 (30-27; 30-27; 30-27) win over Raymart Alara of Bago City in the Jr. boys pinweight division.

The shortest victory belonged to Leo Domingo Napuli of Maasin City Team B as he forced Edu Kuizon of Southern Leyte Team B to retire before the end of the first round.
