Danao, Medellin, Dumanjug secure district titles in Governor’s Cup basketball

Cebu City, Philippines — Medellin, Dumanjug and Danao City all got their weekends off to victorious starts as they each claimed district titles with thrilling victories in their district finals games in the 2019 Governor’s Cup basketball tournament on Friday, April 5, 2019.
Medellin edged Tabuelan, 80-78, to claim the 4th District championship while Danao City got past Sogod, 82-78, to win the 5th District title.
Elsewhere, Dumanjug won by the skin of their teeth over Alegria, 90-87, to bag the 7th District crown.
The district champions will each receive a cash prize of P100,000.
All teams that have reached the district championship phase will advance to this competition’s quarterfinal round. /bmjo
