CEBU CITY — Commuters traveling to Cebu City passing by Minglanilla town, braces yourselves again for another round of traffic congestion.

A portion of the N. Bacalso highway in the municipality of Minglanilla will be closed to make way for the Sugat Kabanhawan street parade on the afternoon of Sunday, April 21, 2019.

The road from Barangay Calajo-an intersection until Barangay Tungkop will be off limits to motorists from 4 p.m. until around 6 p.m. on Easter Sunday.

Vehicles coming from the north will be led to the diversion road traversing from Barangay Calajo-an to the roads of Barangay Tulay, and then make an exit to Barangay Tungkop.

The same diversion road will be used for motorists bound north.

Jonathan Tumulak, Cebu Provincial Government focal person on traffic management, advised the public to travel early so as not to get caught in the traffic.

“Hangyo lang nako sa mga motorist and travelers nga mo biyahe early aron di maabtan sa grabe nga traffic,” said Tumulak in a text message to CDN Digital.

(I request motorists and travelers to travel early to avoid traffic congestion.)

Police Master Sergeant Ramon Chinel, operations officer of the Minglanilla Police Station, advised the public to check the condition of their vehicles to avoid stranded along the narrow diversion roads.

“If we troubleshoot your vehicle within the diversion road, more vehicles will be trapped and the traffic will be heavier,” he told CDN Digital in an interview.

As delivery trucks will not be allowed to pass by the diversion roads, Chinel said that these vehicles will only be allowed until the Minglanilla Poblacion proper and will have to wait until the street parade is finished. / celr
