Scenes from the ‘biggest fire’ to hit Cebu City this April

April 26,2019 - 09:37 PM

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A fire hit Sitio Silangan, Barangay Tejero in the late afternoon of April 26.

Senior Inspector Noel Ababon, Cebu City fire marshall, described the fire as the biggest fire that hit the city this month and estimated the damage to property at P1 million.

Ababon said the fire was reported at 4:50 p.m. and was raised to Task Force Alpha at 5:11 p.m., which meant that help from fire fighters from neighboring towns and cities would be needed to put out the fire.

At 6 p.m. the fire was placed under control, but as of 8:52 p.m., Ababon said that they were still overhauling the fire scene.

Ababon said that at least 80 houses were razed by the fire with others damaged.

He also said that three persons were injured in the fire.

He, however, could not give an estimate of the families that were displaced by the fire.

Tejero Barangay Captain Hermogenes Galang Jr. said he also could not give an estimate of those displaced by the fire as of past 8 p.m.

Here are some scenes of the fire.
