CEBU CITY, Philippines – The Pilar basketball team gave its home fans something to cheer for as they nipped Poro, 75-72, in the 9th Congressman Red Durano Cup basketball tournament on Saturday, April 27, 2019, in a game held in Pilar town in Camotes Island.

The game was played on close terms all throughout but Pilar came through in the clutch to pick up its second win in seven games.

Jacky Berezo scored 14 points to lead the way for Pilar while Lloyd Mandras put up 12. The loss spoiled the 32-point explosion of Poro’s Dush Loon.

In the first game, Compostela won via forfeiture over Borbon, to finish the elimination round with an 8-2 record. Borbon ended the elims on a sour note, finishing with a 3-7 card. /dcb
