CEBU CITY, Philippines — South Cebu travellers are advised to prepare for heavy congestion that may result from the political caravan scheduled this afternoon by the group of reelectionist Mayor Lakambini “Neneth” Reluya.

“Masinati ang heavy traffic sa national highway sa San Fernando tungod sa political caravans nga gipasiugdahan karong adlawa.. Ang dakung pagsabot ug pasensya sa tanang motorista amung gihangyo. Daghang Salamat ug maayung pagbiyahe,” said an advisory posted on the town’s Facebook page at 9 a.m. today, May 5.

After the caravan, Reluya’s slate is scheduled to have their  proclamation rally at the town’s sports complex at 2 p.m.

Felomino Leyson, president of San Fernando Purok Federation, said this will be the biggest political activity that Reluya’s group is organizing a week before the May 13 polls.

(We are expecting a huge crowd because in San Fernando we have 12 allied barangay captains, we also have purok leaders and supporters coming from barangays whose barangay officials are not allied with us.)

Candidates from Alayon Party, the ruling party in Cebu’s first district to which Reluya is affiliated with, are expected to join the sortie.

Leyson said they are also expecting third district Representative Gwendolyn Garcia, who is now running for Cebu governor under the One Cebu party, to grace the event.

Alayon and One Cebu Party are allied with President Rodrigo Duterte’s Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban)./dcb
