CPPO to deploy 2K policemen to secure Monday’s polls

With the arrival of official ballots and election paraphernalia needed for Monday’s midterm polls, policemen in Cebu are also preparing for their official send off that will already start on Thursday. | CDND File Photo

CEBU CITY, Philippines – The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) will deploy at least 2,000 policemen to secure the 1,094 polling precincts in Cebu province.

Police Colonel Manuel Abrugena, CPPO director, said that they will also be getting an augmentation of 500 warm bodies from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Abrugena said the AFP will help them comply with the directive of their national headquarters to deploy two security personnel per polling center.

The official send off of CPPO policemen is scheduled on Thursday morning, May 9, at the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) located along Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City.

Meanwhile, Police Senior Inspector Arieza Otida, information officer of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said they too are now ready to secure Monday’s midterm polls./dcb
