‘No politics in PB resolution for mayor’s suspension’

By: Peter L. Romanillos March 26,2014 - 03:23 PM

There was no politics involved in the Provincial Board (PB) recommendation to suspend Dumanjug Mayor Nelson Garcia.

PB Member Arleigh Sitoy, who heads the PB’s Committee on Complaints and Investigation, defended the recommendation, saying the complaint filed by Vice Mayor Guntrano Gica possessed “sufficient and strong evidence of guilt.”

One of these was the document presented by Gica’s party which proved that Garcia designated Emmylou Cabonillas as municipal secretary, complete with the mayor’s signature,” Sitoy said.

Sitoy said the fact that Garcia never declared the position vacant even if Gica already had an appointee implied malice on Garcia’s part.

He assured Garcia that he will be accorded due process. Davide has yet to act on recommendation.
