Cebu City Niños lead medal tally of Batang Pinoy National Championships

PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan – The Cebu City Niños has claimed the top spot of the medal tally even before the third day of competition of the Batang Pinoy National Championships could end, Wednesday, August 28.

The Niños now have a total of 12 gold medals, 15 silvers and 16 bronze medals.

Five of the gilts came from archery, three from weightlifting, three from dancesports and one from athletics. The Niños had ended their campaign then with 36-40-44, far behind overall champion Baguio which had 83-81-107.

The Niños finished second overall in last year’s edition of the week-long multi-sporting event behind host Baguio City.

Trailing by gilt behind at current second place is Pasig City which has a medal tally of 11-16-6 and at third place is Quezon City with a medal count of 11-10-5.

Defending overall champion Baguio City is at fourth place with 11-6-13 while rounding up the top five is Davao City with 11-5-12.

Davao City was not able to make it in last year’s national championships because Mayor Sarah Duterte had called off their participation due to super typhoon Ompong.

Laguna Province, the top ranked delegation since the first day of competition, dropped to sixth place with 10-12-7.

Completing the top 10 are Cotabato Province (10-2-1), Taguig City (7-5-6), Zamboanga City (7-4-9) and Manila (7-4-1).
