Femabella Espinosa was talking to her live-in partner inside an L-300 van at the Citilink Terminal in Cebu City when a bullet pierced her chest past 1 p.m. Monday.
Espinosa, 50, was rushed to the nearby Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) where she later died.
It was not immediately known who shot the woman, said SPO4 Alex Dacua, homicide investigator of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).
Dacua said they initially thought it was Adriano Roldan Alimes, the woman’s live-in partner, who shot the victim.
Alimes, however, denied shooting the victim.
He said they were just talking inside the vehicle when the woman collapsed.
Alimes said he later discovered that his partner had been shot.
Dacua said the woman may have been hit by a stray bullet.
Alimes told police that they heard a commotion in the squatters’ area located outside the terminal before a gunshot rang out.
Dacau said they went to the squatters’ area and were able to confirm that a commotion took place in the area where someone fired a gun.
Dacua said the victim’s wound had no tattooing or gunpowder burns that would suggest that she was shot at close range.
