Rama, Labella to remain in town for Holy Week

By: Jose Santino S. Bunachita April 14,2014 - 02:08 AM

CEBU City Hall’s top two officials won’t be going anywhere outside the province within the Holy Week observance.

With a 17-year old Holy Week presentation spearheaded by his office, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said he’ll stay in the City.

“I will be attending the Buhing Kalbaryo,” Rama said.

The Buhing Kalbaryo procession will be held at 10:30 a.m on Good Friday at the San Nicolas Parish church. It will traverse V. Rama street and end up at the Guadalupe Church.

But come Saturday, Rama said he might go out of town.

While most offices in City Hall will be closed starting Maundy Thursday, Rama said frontline services of the city government will continue to be open.

“Our frontline offices including the Cebu City Integrated Traffic Operations Management (Citom) among others will always be open. They will always be around. Although not in full force, but they will be felt and seen,” the mayor said.

Cebu City Vice Mayor Edgar Labella said his office will be open but it will be manned by a skeletal force that will respond to emergencies.
