Tabal helps team win in Dipolog

Cebuana  Mary Joy Tabal brought her winning ways to Dipolog City as she helped her team win in the Dipolog City Triathlon 101 last Sunday.

Together with Cebuano swimmer Keith Ocampo and Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte Mayor Pinpin Uy, Tabal and her team topped the standard relay competition by clocking 2 hours 11 minutes and 51 seconds.

Tabal, who is set to leave for Manila this week for the Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission National Games, finished the 10-kilometer run segment of the race in 39 minutes and seven seconds.

Ocampo completed the 1.5-kilometer swim leg in 23 minutes and 19 seconds while Uy finished the 40-km bike race in one hour, nine minutes and 25 seconds.

Tabal’s team beat the all-male group of Kael Llorente, Amelito Taborada and Rondin Butch Chua, who finished  second with a time of 2:31.29.

The team of Danilo Biolango, Oliver Ecasama and Christa Joy Elumba clocked 2:36.24 for third place.

Meanwhile, Tabal’s partner, John Philip Dueñas, failed to defend his male overall crown.

Dueñas settled for third place with a 2:22:14. Ruling the event was Mark Anthony Hosana, who clocked 2:13.29.  Benjamin Raña Jr. claimed second place (2:14.27).

Veteran triathlete Ana Karina de Leon Brown dominated the distaff side after clocking 2:44.27 followed by Cebuana Hannah Lou Galo, who finished in 3:00.29. Nikki Larraine Te rounded off the top three with a time of 3:02.08.
