Cebuano center June Mar Fajardo put up a monster performance yesterday in leading San Miguel to a come-from-behind 102-99 win over GlobalPort in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Fajardo, a former University of Cebu standout, finished with 26 points, 27 rebounds and four blocked shots as the Beermen recovered from a loss to Talk ‘N Text and improved to 4-2 (win-loss).

The 6-foot-10 center was just two rebounds shy of tying Marcelino “Jinky” Simbulan for the PBA record for most rebounds in a game. Simbulan, playing then for the 7/Up Uncolas, had 29 rebounds in a game in 1975.

The Batang Pier suffered another major collapse, squandering another double-digit deficit for their fourth third straight loss against one win.

The Batang Pier erected a 17-point edge early before taking a 60-44 lead at the bend but the lead quickly vanished when San Miguel staged a 22-9 run in the third quarter.
