A mother of a Grade One pupil was shot in front of students, teachers and parents inside a school in Balamban town, Cebu last Monday.
Grace Codisar was with other parents waiting for her child when a lone gunman whose face was concealed by a red shirt approached and pointed a gun at her. Codisar tried to run away but the gunman shot her thrice on her back.
Students and parents who saw what happened thought they were next. “The students were really scared because the crime happened in front of them. A teacher who saw it thought she was next,” said SPO1 Jose Ranielito Billarino of the Balamban police precinct.
The gunman immediately fled the crime scene on board a motorcycle without a plate number towards the trans central highway.
Codisar was first brought to the Balamban District Hospital but was later referred to another hospital in Cebu City due to the severity of her injury.
A deformed slug believed to be from the .45 pistol was recovered from the crime scene.
