LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—The Lapu-Lapu City Government will open another building of the Lapu-Lapu City College (LLC) to be converted into an isolation facility as the number of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the city increased anew.

Dr. Agnes Realiza, head of the City Health Office, said that currently, the city occupies two buildings of LCC as its isolation facility for asymptomatic COVID-19 positive patients.

The first building can accommodate 80 patients, which is now fully occupied, while the other building can accommodate 110 patients.

Realiza said  they were to conduct an ocular inspection on the third building on Monday, February 1, 2021, for the installation of beds, and other necessary preparations.

Meanwhile, Realiza said that she also ordered to vacate the isolation facility located near the Hoops Dome in Barangay Gun-ob.

She said that the said facility will be used to quarantine COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate symptoms.

Currently, Realiza said that 11 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and one Returning Overseas Filipino (ROF) were accommodated in the facility after they arrived at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

These individuals and those Oponganon OFWs and ROFs who will arrive will now be checked-in in hotels that are accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Health (DOH).

The Overseas Worker Welfare Administration (OWWA) will pay for the accommodation of returning OFWs while ROFs will have to shoulder the expenses for their accommodation.

Realiza added that COVID-19 positive patients with severe to critical symptoms will be admitted to hospitals.

As of Sunday, Lapu-Lapu has 226 active cases of COVID-19.
