Mandaue gov’t installs plastic bollards for safety of cyclists
MANDAUE CITY, Cebu—Here’s some good news for bikers.
The Mandaue City government, in cooperation with the Department of Public Works and Highways Central Visayas (DPWH-7), have installed plastic bollards at the North Reclamation Area here on Thursday, February 4, 2021, intended for the safety and protection of cyclists.
Photos of the said bollards were shared by the Facebook page of the Mandaue City Public Information Office.
According to Krizzy Hyll Retuya, chief of staff of Mandaue City Councilor Jimmy Lumapas, the chairman of the Committee on Transportation, the city will install plastic bollards on wide roads where trucks and large vehicles usually pass.
The city has been establishing bike lanes around the city since June last year to protect cyclists.

Cebu has seen a rapid rise of bicycle users since June due to the lack of public transportation brought about by the strict protocols because of COVID-19.
“As a way to protect the bicycle riding public, the local government of Mandaue City has made it a priority to install infrastructure projects intended for the safety and protection of our bikers. This includes the bike lane network, bicycle repair stations as well as bike parking racks all throughout the city,” the post at the Mandaue City PIO Facebook page reads.
