Gullas appeals for help for fire victims in Bulacao, Cebu City

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu  – The more than 200 families who lost their homes to a fire that hit a thickly populated community in Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City are not his constituents.

But Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas is appealing for help for the at least 849 individuals to ease their sufferings.

“Though they are not my constituents, it pains me to see people suffering from situations that they couldn’t avoid,” Gullas said in a Facebook post Saturday night, February 6, 2021.

Gullas said that the fire that burned their homes was an added blow to their sufferings during the pandemic.

“It is sad to note that these families lost their homes as we are still tackling this pandemic,” he said.

The Talisay City mayor asked his constituents to extend the much needed help to their neighbors.

A donation drive for the purpose will officially start on Monday, February 8.

Gullas is asking those who wanted to extend help to contact City Hall through Tristan Rama of the Mayors Office – 0922392577, Christian Lazarte of LYDO – 09270382452 and Jason Candia of SKFED – 09323333612 for assistance.

“Let us be good brothers and sisters in this difficult times,” Gullas said.
