CEBU CITY, Philippines—The Municipality of Minglanilla in southern Cebu will be reimposing the need for quarantine or barangay passes to limit the movement of the public.

The Minglanilla Police Station announced in its Facebook page that the Peace and Order Council has recommended the imposition of the passes to restrict the movement of the people due to the rising number of active COVID-19 cases in the town.

Minglanilla, which is approximately 15 kilometers south of Cebu City, currently has  92 active cases of COVID-19.

“Residents are not allowed to go out if not their schedule except frontliners and workers who presented proof, and barangay passes used by other persons are prohibited,” said the Minglanilla police.

Police Major William Homoc, the chief of the Minglanilla police, said that the barangay captain will play a huge role in controlling the spread of the virus by implementing the health protocols.

“We work with unity and cooperation of everyone so that we can move forward and not back to the Enhance Community Quarantine, the strictest quarantine protocol,” said the police.

The schedule for the passes has yet to be announced as of this posting.
