Mandaue buy-bust yields P1.4M shabu, HVI arrested
MANDAUE CITY, Philippines – About P1.4 million worth of suspected shabu were confiscated in a buy-bust operation conducted on Tuesday afternoon, February 9, 2021, in Zone 2, Upper Canduman, here.
The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) Station 6 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) seized 282 grams of shabu and arrested six individuals, three of whom were nabbed for illegal gambling. Aside from the illegal drugs, also recovered from the suspects were a 22 caliber revolver with two live ammunition and marked money.
Police said Alan Antiporto Arroja Jr., 19, a resident of Ponce Compound 2 in barangay Carreta, Cebu City, and described as a high-value individual (HVI) was the subject of the operation.
Arrested with Arroja were Alan Baguio Arroja Sr., 42, a resident of Ponce Compound 2, barangay Carreta, Cebu City and temporarily residing at Zone 2, barangay Canduman in Mandaue City and Phebe Sanchez Antig, 19, also of Ponce Compound 2, barangay Carreta, Cebu City
Police Corporal Lito Daigdigan of MCPO Station 6, said the three are relatives.
Daigdigan said Arroja Jr., has been selling and delivering illegal drugs in barangay Canduman in Mandaue.
Daigdigan added they have been monitoring Arroja Jr., for a month now after someone tipped them of his illegal activities.
The three other individuals who were nabbed for illegal gambling in the same house were Ruthy Alado Antiporta, 37, from Ponce Compound in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City but temporarily living in Zone 2, barangay Canduman; Ricarte Abrogar Dimana, 34; and Floraine Cabucos, 26, both of Sitio Agay-Ay, barangay Tejero in Cebu City.
The suspects are currently detained in the MCPO PS6.
Daigdigan said they will be filing appropriate charges against the suspects for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and Presidential Decree 1602 (illegal gambling). /rcg
