CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) has opened a Malasakit Service Licensing Center in their Cebu City office.

The Malasakit Service Center have begun accepting senior citizen and persons with disabilities (PWDs) on February 19, 2021.

LTO 7 Regional Director Victor Caindec said that the Malasakit Lounge, which was officially opened last October 2019, was now a service center.

“Hayahay na ang mga clients kay maglingkod na lang sila unya ang LTO na ang moserve sa ilaha. Mobarog na lang sila kung kwaan na silag picture,” said Caindec.

(It will be easier for the clients because they will just be sitting down and the LTO will be the ones to serve them. They will only stand if their picture will be taken.)

As of now, the service center can accommodate up to 30 clients per day through online or walk-in appointments.

Aside from the licensing services, which is currently the service that is being offered in the service center, LTO 7’s Drivers Education Center  (DEC) and the upcoming New Registration Unit (NRU) are also located in the center.

Caindec also said that there would be two DECs that will be located in the center, one will cater to all the sectors and the other one will serve the sector with special needs.

The second NRU in the region will also be located in the same center.

The center has also set up a playroom for the children of the transacting mothers that can also be utilized.

Edward Pono of the National Commission on Senior Citizens said they appreciated the center that would make it easier for them to process LTO-7 related documents or permits.

The Regional Federation of PWDs also said the center would help them process permits more conveniently. /dbs
