MANDAUE CITY, Philippines – Mandaue City has once again implemented a total liquor ban on Saturday, February 20, 2021, due to the rising number of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the city.

In Executive Order (EO) no. 9, Mayor Jonas Cortes has prohibited persons, restaurants, hotels, resorts, convenience stores, sari-sari stores, and other establishments from serving and drinking liquor within the city’s jurisdiction.

The EO also reiterates the important guidelines under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Persons below 15 years old and 65 years old and above, and those with comorbidities and pregnant women are prohibited to go outside of their homes except for those with important things to do outside such as medical treatment/checkup among others.

All food establishments shall operate at a maximum of 50 percent capacity. Those who are authorized to operate 24 hours should only offer take-out services beyond 10 p.m.

All types of non-essential mass gatherings such as birthday parties, fiestas, among others are also prohibited.

Health protocols such as wearing of face mask, observance of curfew hours from 11 p.m to 4 a.m, among others are to be strictly enforced.

The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), Legal Enforcement Unit, City Treasurer’s Office (CTO), Business Permit Licensing Office (BPLO), and other regulatory offices were directed to inspect the compliance of the business establishments with the minimum health standards. /rcg
