MANILA, Philippines — Two more individuals were reported missing after the onslaught of Tropical Storm Auring while the death toll remained at one, Office of Civil Defense Administrator Ricardo Jalad said Tuesday.

The lone fatality was a six-year-old child who drowned in Surigao del Sur, while the number of missing persons climbed from two to four.

Three of the missing individuals are fishermen who went out to sea in Bislig, Jalad said.

Citing data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Jalad said 29,000 families, or 112,734 individuals, were affected by the storm.

A total of 240 houses were damaged, 60 of which were totally damaged and 180 partially damaged.

A total of 12 roads and a bridge were also damaged by Auring, but seven of the roads are already passable, Jalad said.

On Monday, Auring weakened from a tropical depression to a low pressure area, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Most areas in the country can expect better weather starting Wednesday due to the dissipation of the storm into a low-pressure area.
