Boy marks 3rd birthday with Army-themed photo shoot in memory of his dad
Birthday is a special day to one’s life but Yonjiero Navalta, a 3-year-old boy, wanted to celebrate it in his father’s memory.
Yonjiero personally requested to his mother, Mary Jean Navalta, an advance Army-themed birthday shoot for his big day on March 13.
Mary Jean told CDN Digital that his son wanted to mimic his father who died 3 years ago.
Sergeant Jocejun Navalta was a soldier of the Philippine Military, who survived the Marawi Siege. He, however, died in the Misamis Occidental encounter last 2018.
“Makita nako akong bana sa akoang anak, mura natawo usab akong bana, ” Mary Jean said.
(I see my husband in my son. It seems like my husband is reborn.)

Yonjiero was only 2 months old when his father left. Mary Jean was amazed at how his son poses in the photos which really imitates his father, Jocejun.
“I dont have an idea nganong kabisado sya sa tanang hapa hapa ug ligid ligid parehas sa sundalo… Bisan wala sila nagkita pero gibuhi sa amoang anak ang image sa iyahang papa.
(I don’t have any idea why he knows how to kneel down and roll as soldiers do. Even though they did not meet, my son has made his father’s image to come alive.)
While Yonjiero did it like a pro, her mother got emotional when she remembered her husband saying she was still blessed for having the cutest gift who would always make her day.
