THE 52-year-old policeman who was arrested in an entrapment operation for extortion on Monday faces an administrative case for grave misconduct.
If PO2 Joselito Laspiñas of the Waterfront Police Station is found guilty, he won’t be able to receive his retirement benefits.
Chief Inspector Aileen Recla of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of the Cebu City Police Office, said that they are waiting for the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 to file the criminal charges today.
The complaint will be used in the administrative investigation for grave misconduct.
She said Laspiñas has no derogatory record but with his recent arrest, his retirement benefits may be forfeited.
Police officers retire at the age of 56.
Laspiñas was arrested by NBI agents after receiving P3,000 from Michael Detuya, from whom he allegedly demanded money for the release of Detuya’s girlfriend, a saleslady who was six months pregnant.
The saleslady was detained with co-workers of a downtown store in the Waterfront police cell on suspicion of stealing three bags and pairs of sandals in their workplace last Saturday. They were arrested by store detectives. She denied the accusation. The store owner didn’t file charges.
