Canadian Brent McMahon won this year’s Cobra Ironman 70.3 Triathlon that started and ended at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa.
McMahon, who placed 5th last year in the same competition, clocked in at three hours and 59 minutes.
He was followed by Australian Sam Betten, who finished the race with four hours, seven minutes and 30 seconds. Another Australian, Casey Munro, finished third with four hours and 13 minutes but organizers later told reporters that he was disqualified.
His name was not listed among the winners that the press will meet today. Taking his spot was Cameron Brown of New Zealand who finished the race with a time of four hours and 15 minutes followed by 26-year-old Australian Matt Burton who ended the race in four hours and 22 minutes.
Rounding out the top 5 is 43-year-old Australian Justin Granger with a time of four hours and 43 minutes.
The awarding of winners will take place at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa at 4 pm today.
Some of the participants had a hard time. Belinda Granger, who came in third in the women’s competition, tweeted “toughest day ever.

Betton also said the same thing.

“Super windy and hot. Tough conditions make today’s second place at Cobra Ironman 70.3 very satisfying,” Betton tweeted.
Michael Murphy of Australia was quick to finish the swim course and closed on Betton’s lead during the bike race when he sustained a flat tire and was unable to finish.
