DOH-7 sends 22 nurses in 3 Bohol hospitals amid rise in COVID-19 cases
TAGBILARAN CITY—The Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) has deployed 22 nurses in three private hospitals in Bohol to help augment their manpower amid the rise in COVID-19 cases in the province.
The Allied Care Experts (ACE) Medical Center and the Ramiro Community Hospital each received seven nurses, while eight others were deployed at the Holy Name University (HNU) Medical Center Inc.
According to Monette Zuñiga, head of the Human Resource Development Unit of DOH-7, the 22 nurses would serve in these hospitals only until July 31.
If COVID-19 cases in Bohol continue to increase, then she said they would be extended until August.
Zuñiga said they were supposed to deploy 10 nurses in each of the three hospitals but some backed out.
“Some nurses choose to be at the vaccination sites since nurses are also needed there,” Zuñiga told the Inquirer.
Those who agreed to be assigned in Bohol, she said, cater to COVID-19 patients only.
Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap recently announced in his Facebook page that there are six new cases of COVID-19 variants in Bohol: three Alpha variants, one Beta variant, and two Theta variants.
As of July 15, the COVID-19 tracker by DOH showed that Bohol has 902 new cases in the last 14 days, bringing the total number of infections to 9,547 with 8,820 recoveries and 62 deaths.
The province currently has 665 COVID-19 active cases.
