A lawyer in Maria Luisa Subdivision lost over a million pesos worth of jewelry to her household helper.

The stolen items were recovered from the 20-year-old helper, Nina Limana Patalinghug.

Patalinghug was arrested in her own house during a follow up operation of the Theft and Robbery Section.

The victim Tercel Maria Mercado-Gephart placed fourth in last year’s bar exam.

In an interview, Patalinghug admitted stealing the jewelry of her employer saying she was hard up.

“Nagproblema ko og kwarta,” said the housemaid who is detained at Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Chief Inspector David Señor said the lawyer will file charges of qualified theft.
