CEBU CITY, Philippines — Four-division world champion Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr., said he does not want to engage three-division world champion John Riel “Quadro Alas” Casimero in another war on social media if the latter wants to negotiate a fight with him.

In his Facebook post, Donaire Jr, the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) world bantamweight champion stated that they are weighing all options about his next opponent and will not entertain “social media wars”.

He also clarified that his camp and Casimero’s have not engaged in any negotiation to revive their botched world title unification showdown set last August 14.

“Contrary to what is being presented on social media, all the antics and TALK, Quadro Alas It’s my boy and Sean Gibbons has YET to contact our promoter, Richard Schaefer, about wanting to fight, despite their call-out on Aug 14. We are currently weighing all REAL options and will not entertain social media wars when it is apparent it was just talk,” stated Donaire Jr.’s Facebook post.

On August 18, unbeaten Japanese world champion Naoya “Monster” Inoue accepted Casimero’s challenge via a Twitter post but with one condition: Casimero must follow proper anti-doping testing.

Filipino boxing fans are divided on who among Inoue and Donaire should Casimero fight next, now that the latter has caught their attention on social media.

Casimero successfully defended his WBO world bantamweight title versus Guillermo Rigondeaux via split decision on August 14 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson City, California.

That fight supposedly pits Donaire Jr. and Casimero in an all-Filipino world title unification showdown but was canceled due to several issues.

Donaire Jr. decided not to push through with the fight because of Casimero’s disrespectful comments on his wife and family. They also accused Casimero of not being transparent with his anti-doping papers.

Meanwhile, Inoue has been linked to Casimero’s name since last year after the latter called him out on social media to promote a fight.

However, Inoue’s camp remained silent about the matter prompting Casimero to taunt him and his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank Boxing on social media.

It will be an exciting matchup if any of the three world champions in the bantamweight division meet in the ring.

Donaire Jr. holds a record of 41 wins, six defeats, and 27 knockouts while Casimero has a 31-4 (win-loss) record with 21 knockouts.

Inoue, the reigning IBF, and WBA super world bantamweight champion is undefeated with 21 wins and 18 knockouts.    /rcg
