Mandaue City Councilor clarifies: Daughter and her partner not part of road rage controversy

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu—A Mandaue City Councilor denied allegations that her daughter and the latter’s partner were involved in the road rage incident between a bread delivery driver and four bikers in Mandaue City last Sunday, August 22, 2021.

Councilor Cynthia Cinco-Remedio wanted to clear the names of her daughter Jenika Alexis Nikki Remedio and her daughter’s partner Ian Cabrido, both of whom were dragged into the controversy.

The councilor said her daughter and her daughter’s partner were not in Mandaue at that time of the incident caught on camera and were instead biking north to Danao City.

 “Mistaken Identity na, dili intawn na partner sa ako anak, wala gyud koy labot ana, wala gyud ko kahibaw sa unsa gyud ang bottomline ana kay ang akong anak sad at the same time sila sa iyang partner naa didto na sila Danao nag bike. Naay daghan saksi ana nila,” said Remedio.

Remedio believes that the dragging her daughter into the controversy was some sort of politicking. 

The councilor said she, her husband, and her daughter will discuss what actions to take on those who dragged their family into the road rage issue.

On Tuesday afternoon, August 24, 2021, the victim of the road rage incidcent, Marvin Lobitaña, already confirmed in an interview with Alsa Bisaya that a settlement has been reached between him and the two bikers who punched him.

However, the identities of the bikers remain unknown as of this posting. 

The National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas and Mandaue City Police Office have also not yet released the names of the bikers.
