Honda Cars Cebu Inc. stages Fuel Eco Run
In its bid to show off the ‘green’ technology in the engines of its vehicles, Honda Cars Cebu Inc. (HCCI) held last Aug. 16 the Honda Fuel Eco Run 2014.
The activity aimed to raise awareness on fuel-efficient driving for better gas mileage and also highlight the fuel efficiency of the engines of Honda vehicles.
Several owners of Honda cars from Cebu joined the event that started at the North Reclamation Area (NRA) gas station of Caltex in Mandaue City.
Among the vehicles that joined included Honda CR-V crossovers, Civic sedans, City sedans and Jazz hatchbacks.
The route of the eco run was from the Caltex NRA station to Carcar City and back, which covered 88 kilometers.
Participants had to fill up their gas tanks before proceeding with the eco run. Upon their return to the Caltex gas station from Carcar City, they had to fill up their tanks again. Honda officials computed their fuel mileage manually by dividing the total distance travelled by the amount of fuel (in liters) added after the trip.
So if 5.6 liters were added after the 88-km. trip, the mileage would be (88/5.6) 15.7 kilometers per liter (km/l). This means that the lesser fuel added, the higher the mileage will be.
At the end of the eco run, one winner per model was awarded at the HCCI dealership at the NRA in Cebu City.
The winner for the Jazz category was Waikit Chan, who achieved 18.35 km/l with his 1.5-liter hatchback. Jed Suaring won the City category with a fuel mileage of 22.7 km/l (1.5-liter) while Judith Canales won the CR-V category with a 16.57 km/l mark in a 2-liter variant. The Civic category winner was Allan Carolino, achieving a whopping 15.1 km/l mileage with his 1.8-liter variant.
Winners won gift certificates from Caltex and HCCI.
The event was also held in line with the celebration of HCCI’s 22nd anniversary and the 11th year of its Mandaue showroom.
Sponsors for the event included Caltex, Bank of Commerce, X-1R, Dranix, Mapfre, SAVI, Bluechem, Nestle Ice Cream, Julie’s Bakeshop, Globe, and Y101 FM.
