Three police officers who previously headed the Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) of the Cebu City Police Office were relieved from their posts for allegedly using a recovered car which was against police regulations.
Senior Supt. Noli Romana, chief of police of Cebu City, ordered the relief of Chief Insp. Noli Cernio, chief of the Punta Princessa Police Station; Insp. William Alicaba, deputy chief of the Fuente Police Station, and Senior Insp. Elizandro Quijano of the Homicide Section. The relief order took effect yesterday.
The three were ordered transferred to the CCPO holding unit while the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) is looking into the case.
The three officials allegedly used a Mitsubishi Lancer sedan as their “service car” during their respective stints at the TRS.
The sedan was found abandoned at the corner of Molave and Apitong streets in barangay Lahug in Oct. 2013. No one has showed up to claim ownership of the vehicle.
Romana said that among the three officers, Cernio stands to face a heavier penalty as he allegedly used the car for his personal use and even took it with him when he was transferred to the Punta Princesa police station.
Alicaba headed the TRS in 2013 and was replaced early this year by Quijano. Quijano was later replaced by Cernio. Last July, Cernio was transferred to the Punta Princesa Police Station and was replaced by Chief Insp. David Señor.
