Cop says sorry for violating road rules

A policeman was cited for parking his vehicle in a no parking zone in barangay Sto. Niño, Cebu City yesterday morning.

The violation didn’t stop there as P03 Alex Buanghog, who is assigned at the Parian Police Station, was caught trying to remove the wheel clamp used to immobilize his Nissan Sentra sedan.
The car was parked on a pedestrian lane, according to Ricardo Licpao of the Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom).

Buanghog had gone to the area to pick up his daughter.

Licpao said they were on patrol when they saw the policeman striking the clamp with a stone.
Because of the incident, Citom operation chief Joy Tumulak ordered Licpao to take the policeman to the Citom office.

There, the policeman apologized for the violation.

Tumulak said that as a policeman, Buanghog was supposed to know that what he did was wrong.

“He is a government worker. There’s no need to remind him of what is wrong or right,” said Tumulak in Cebuano.

Tumulak accepted the policeman’s apology on a condition that he pay the P1,000 fine for the traffic violation.

The policeman was also asked to write a letter of apology to Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama.
