Cebu’s already exciting collegiate basketball arena is about to get an international shot in the arm as the Gov. Hilario Davide Invitational Basketball Cup-10th Asian University Basketball Championship kicks off immediately after the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) finals.

According to tournament organizer and longtime sportsman, Lorenzo “Chao” Sy, the tournament will kick off on Oct. 22 and will feature the top four squads of the Cesafi along with two Asian collegiate basketball teams – the Myongji University from Seoul, South Korea and Hoaqiao University from Xiamen, China.

Representing Cebu are the reigning Cesafi title-holders University of the Visayas (UV), Southwestern University (SWU), the University of San Carlos (USC) and the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R).

The five-day tournament will be played in five different locales, namely Bogo, Danao, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu before the championship game makes its way to the Cebu Coliseum.

Much will be at stake in this competition as the champion will be given the right to represent the country in the 2015 Summer Universiade.

The University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters and the UV Green Lancers were given the distinction of participating in the basketball competition in previous years.
