Designer Mendez took his inspiration from “Ylang Ylang”, a native flower in the country which is “loved because of its unique beauty and its striking yellow color.”
“It is a figure hugging gown made of Silk tulle and silk organdy that is fully embellished with rhinestones, Swarovski crystals and beaded embroidery.
It features a blooming flower effect though fabric manipulation on the bodice and it replicated the same idea with a different variation on the skirt,” Perez wrote.
Perez of Cebu City said that while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of Puerto Rico, she was reminded that “beauty is a universal concept that grows fondly where it is planted with a sincere heart.”
“Bolder like ever before, akin pong ipagbubunyi ang gandang Filipina. Lalaban tayo!” she said.
The 70th Miss World coronation night will be held in Puerto Rico on December 17, 2021.
