LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The Department of Education in Central Visayas (DepEd-7) regional director will give a reward to the first DepEd Division in the region that will be able to have a 100 percent inoculation of their teaching and non-teaching personnel.

Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, DepEd-7 regional director, said the reward would help encourage DepEd-7 division offices to intensify their vaccination drive against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Jimenez, however, refused to reveal what reward would be given to the first division office that could inoculate all of its personnel.

Currently, Jimenez said that DepEd-7 had already vaccinated 95.41 percent of its personnel.

He said that the 2 percent of the remaining personnel, were also scheduled to be vaccinated.

“Actually scattered ni sila (ang wala pay bakuna) naay from Bohol, naay Cebu, naa sad tay Negros, and even Siquijor. Sa Siquijor, gamay nalang kaayo. Maoy akong nahinumduman, naa na lang ta’y 22 (nga wala pa mabakunahi),” Jimenez said.

(Actually, they are scattered [those who have not yet been vaccinated]. There are those from Bohol, those from Cebu, we even have those from Negros and even Siquijor.  In Siquijor, there are only a few more. As far as I can remember, there are only 22 [who have not yet been vaccinated].)

Meanwhile, the remaining 2 percent, Jimenez said, still refused to have themselves inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine.
