A 20-year-old Korean was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly stealing two Apple iPhone smartphones of a barangay captain inside a hotel gym in barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
Kim Yeon Hui, 20, a student and a staffer of an English language school, denied the allegation against her by Jay de la Fuente, barangay captain of Magsilang, Madridejos.
Dela Fuente said he left his iPhone 5C and 5S at one corner of the gym while he played basketball with his friends.
He inspected Kim’s bag because she was the one standing near the area where he kept the phones. However, he did not find anything.
He reported the matter to the police who asked for a copy of the CCTV footage. The footage showed Kim taking the smartphones which she handed over to the gym’s receptionist.
Dela Fuente will file charges against Kim as she has not returned the iPhone 5S.
