KENYAN Abraham Missous and Keisha Mae Delechos emerged the fastest runners in the 16-kilometer race of the second Saint Pedro Calungsod Anniversary Run held yesterday at the Saint Pedro Calungsod at the South Road Properties, Cebu City.

Missous, a regular fixture in Cebu footraces, was never really challenged in winning the men’s race with a time of 55 minutes and 51 seconds.

Delechos, a consistent podium finisher in short distances races, dominated the distaff side by clocking 1:15.51.

Missous’ compatriot Isaac Simat finished second in the men’s 16k race with 56:46 followed by Paul James Zafico with 58:57.

Mereeis Ramirez finished next to Delechos 1:16.09, while Charise Anino wound up third with 1:32.57.

Prince Joey Lee and Michelle Beboso were ruled the 5k race.

Lee claimed the top spot in the men’s division at 15:14 followed by Ronilo Gabilan with 15:17 and Ian Refuela with 15.02.

Beboso timed 20:17 to win the women’s division. She was followed by veteran runner Christy Tutor with 21:24, while Patricia Tumulak finished third at 22:21.

Proceeds of the race, which was handled by Joel Juarez of Coco Running, will be used to fund the college education of the two altar boys at the Saint Pedro Calungsod chapel.

The finisher’s medals were blessed by Saint Pedro Calungsod Chapel rector Monsignor Vicente Tupas Jr.
