Some 300 exhibitors from the construction, food and beverage and automobile sectors showcased their latest products, technologies and industry trends at the three-day Philbex Cebu or the Philippine Construction Show.

Philbex Cebu also runs the Cebu Autoshow and Cefbex or the Cebu Food and Manufacturing Technology Show at the SM Cebu, opened yesterday. The show will run until Sunday, Oct. 12.

Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said the exhibit adds a feather in Cebu’s fame as a Mice or meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions destination.

“This three-in-one affair showcasing the best technologies in the major industries is a very welcome event here. It helps the industries especially since Cebu is a major hub in the country,” she said.

She said this helps to create a conducive environment where availability of the latest trends in the three sectors can be factor toward globalization.

“Cebu’s construction industry continues to show growth not only in the urban areas but also in the suburbs and the countryside. It’s strategic topography, good climate and vibrant economy fuels further the growth of the industry,” she said.

Cebu’s tourism industry also fueled more investments in the food and beverage industry. Thus, European and Asian dishes are now available here.

Likewise, investments from outside of Cebu and migration stir further economic developments and have attracted even the luxurious brands in the automobile industry.

“Now we have European and Asian automobile brands all trying to get a good share of the market of Cebu. What we need are more supply of spare parts to support the automobile industry, and the Autoshow provides a venue for that kind of trading,” she said.

Joseph Ang, World Services Inc. founder, said that this is the 11th year they have held the event in Cebu and they always get an overwhelming response from their show.
