Jealous guard accused of killing guard surrenders

By: Chito O. Aragon October 11,2014 - 08:00 AM

The security guard who was accused of killing another guard  because of jealousy surrendered yesterday  to  barangay Pasil officials in Cebu City.

Charlito Llanto Jr., in an interview, said he shot   Roel Gigante in the chest  because he  suspected the man of  having an affair  with his common law wife Eunila Romero, a security guard in the same company.

Llanto said  he was not able to control his emotions when he saw Romero and his wife talking prior to the shooting at 7 a.m. Thursday.

“I saw him (Gigante) touching my girlfriend’s face.  That really irked me,” Llanto said in Cebuano.

Gigante and  Romero both  work for  Mishem Security Agency and were detailed at    CountryHome, a subdivision on R. Duterte Street in Banawa.
Romero just arrived at the guardhouse to relieve Gigante when her boyfriend guard  arrived and shot him.

Llanto, on the other hand, is connected with Arco Security Agency and was detailed at a money remittance center near CountryHome.

SPO2 Ruth Violango, homicide investigator, said jealousy was the clear motive for the violence.

She said Romero is now their witness against her partner. The female security guard denied having an affair with the slain Gigante.

After Llanto Jr. surrendered, he was turned over to the Sawang Calero Police Station and then to the Guadalupe Police Station since  the shooting happened in Banawa.
