A RESORT in Mactan Island has invested at least P90 million for a new brand aimed at boosting the food and beverage segment of their business.

After six months of redevelopment, Crimson Resort and Spa will officially launch Azure Beach Club this Friday.

Azure is the first establishment that will introduce the beach club experience within a major resort in Cebu, a trend that started in Europe and popularized in Asia in recent years and hopefully in Cebu, said Kristofer Quadros, Crimson Resort and Spa resident manager.

“This is a timely development that will provide us with yet another advantage to be able to compete with other destinations that we are tightly vying with,” said Quadros.

The resort hotel is among the properties in Mactan which are preparing for the influx of tourists when the new Mactan-Cebu Airport terminal is completed by 2018.

The resort’s holding company Filinvest Development Corp. even announced early this year of investing at least P1.1 billion for expansion projects in their Cebu properties.

“With Cebu looking to become a world-class destination, properties should be able to offer sophisticated products and facilities, and Filinvest believes in that, hence, the continued investments they are doing in their properties including Crimson,” said Quadros.

The beach club concept is a new resort concept, which has become popular in Europe and slowly catching up in Asia especially in beach destinations like Thailand and Indonesia.

The Azure features a restaurant with different menus for day and night, a beach lounge area and a rock bar by the cliff.

Azure’s menu include modern Asian cuisine specifically Indonesia, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines.

“The rock bar, on the other hand, is an experience of its own with its wide selection of drinks and cocktails at a beautiful scenery,” said Quadros.

French food and beverage director Florent Humeau said through Azure Beach Club, the resort highlights the quality food and beverage offerings as one of the core business in the resort.

TARGET

The F&B business of the resort accounts for up to 25 percent of the resort’s revenues.

“With the opening of Azure, we expect to double F&B’s revenue share toward December this year and eventually triple this by next year,” said Quadros.
