The Department of Public Works Highways (DPWH) in Cebu City will no longer issue permits to companies that will dig within the road-right-of-way to prevent delays of their projects.

Cebu City District Engineer Fernando Cruz said during 888 News Forum at Marco Polo Hotel that these road excavations caused delay in all of their ongoing projects.

“It is now their time to buy their own right-of-way,” Cruz said.

He added the existing excavations will stay but they will no longer issue permits to new applications.

He added they are not afraid if these companies will sue them for not granting permits.

Meanwhile, DPWH Cebu City has proposed a P1.45-billion budget 2015 projects.

Cruz explained that the South District under Rep. Rodrigo “Bebot” Abellanosa will have P450 million while the remaining will go to the North District under Rep. Raul del Mar.

He explained that the North District has a higher proposed budget because it has a bigger area as compared to South District.

There is also an additional P200-million budget for the South District for the rehabilitation of road from F. Llamas to N. Bacalso Ave.
