LTO-7 HR officer nabbed for graft for third time
The human resource officer of the Land Transportation Office (LTO-7) was arrested yesterday by policemen from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) inside his office on N. Bacalso Ave. for graft.
But Joel Maloloy-on immediately posted bail of P30,000 and was released from detention.
Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Sylva Aguirre-Paderanga issued the arrest warrant against Maloloy-on for violation of Sec. 3 Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
Early this month, Maloloy-on surrendered to the CIDU as he has another warrant for the same offense.
After two weeks, he was arrested by CIDU also for the same case.
Maloloy-on admitted he is facing at least six counts of graft charges.
He was also previously suspended for simple neglect of duty.
Maloloy-on is among the five LTO-7 officials who were implicated in the alleged misuse of more than P23 million in public funds.
The four others were already dismissed from LTO by the Visayas Ombudsman for another case which is the alleged illegal release of P20.9 million in 2005. They are former LTO-7 chief Alex Leyson, supervising transportation regulation officer Gonzalo Baybay, finance and management division officer-in-charge Corazon Bascon and assistant cashier Marissa Abear Veriña. Leyson is now a councilman in barangay Talamban.
