The Cebu provincial government declared 15 towns in southern Cebu under a state of calamity after they were hit by typhoon Queenie last week.

Damages done in the towns of Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Oslob, Santander, Samboan, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Badian, Moalboal, Alcantara, Ronda and Dumanjug were pegged at P230 million.

The province has P77 million left from its calamity fund this year which Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said can be used in the rehabilitation of damaged structures.

He said the municipal government of each affected town should declare their towns under calamity status. So far only the towns of Malabuyoc and Samboan declared their areas under calamity status.
