Byron Garcia’s daughter fatally shot in the head
Police are looking into the death of the 18-year-old daughter of Byron Garcia, former Capitol security consultant and brother of 3rd district Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia.
Gail Mae Anjelou Garcia succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head that may have been self-inflicted.
She was brought to the South General Hospital in City of Naga Tuesday evening and was declared dead by the attending physician.
A spot report of the Talisay Police Station described the case as an “alleged suicide alarm.”
The death was reported to the police by a security guard of the private hospital and was confirmed by the nurse on duty.
A police team went to Garcia’s residence in Corona del Mar subdivision in barangay Pooc, Talisay City to investigate but they were not allowed inside by the head security guard of the private subdivision.
“The family requests privacy at this time of great and unbearable grief to be able to mourn in private,” said Byron in a text message sent to media outlets yesterday.
A vigil wake has been booked for five days at the Rolling Hills Funeral Homes in Mandaue City.
Garcia family members at the San Lorenzo Ruiz Chapel declined to grant media interviews.
Among those gathered at the vigil wake was Byron’s parents Rep. Pablo Garcia and Esperanza, a retired judge and president of the CFI Capitol Cooperative.
Byron’s brother, former congressman Pablo John Garcia, along with his wife Karen were also there.
The police report said SPO1 Benjamine Sebellita, PO3 Rey Bucao and PO3 Benedicto Lasque went to Byron Garcia’s residence in Talisay but were not allowed to enter by the head of security Roel Towaran.
Talisay police then went to the funeral home in Mandaue City where they spoke with the victim’s father, but Byron did not give any comments to the police at the time.
