Port police arrested last Friday a passenger bound for Bohol province and confiscated   P2 million worth of illegal drugs in a Cebu City terminal in Pier 3.

Lian Arciaga, 26, was arrested after the scanner detected the illegal drugs in the paper bag Arciaga was carrying.

Port police assigned at the scanner grew suspicious with Arciaga after he refused to have the paper bag he was carrying to be checked by the scanner when he arrived at the terminal. They did not force Arciaga to have his paper bag checked but they did not allow him to board the fastcraft.

A few minutes before departure, Arciaga agreed to have the paper bag scanned. It was then that the scanner showed a pack believed to contain shabu worth at least P2 million.

Arciaga later denied to reporters that he was not aware of the illegal drugs inside the paper bag.

He was also charged yesterday afternoon for transporting illegal drugs before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.

Also yesterday,  members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group raided a house in sitio Caimito, barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City and arrested 39-year-old Gemma Remulta.

Supt. Fermin Armendarez, deputy chief of  CIDG-7, said they found and confiscated a medium sized pack and two small packs believed to contain shabu and drug-sniffing paraphernalia inside the house.
