LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Lapu-Lapu City is currently holding satellite registrations in different barangays.

In the notice that was issued by COMELEC Lapu-Lapu City election officer Ann Janette Lamban, the satellite registration started on January 4 and will end on January 24.

Today, January 11, 2022, the agency has conducted satellite registration at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail at Sitio Soong, Barangay Mactan.

This was to give persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) a chance to participate in the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in October.

Meanwhile, the satellite registration on Thursday, January 12, 2023, is scheduled at Barangay Pajac and Maribago; Barangay Basak on January 13; Barangays Caliwasan and Babag on January 14; Sabang and San Vicente on January 17; Sta. Rosa and Tungasan on January 18; Talima and Baring on January 19; Tingo and Caw-oy on January 20; Caohagan, Caubian, and Pangan-an on January 21; and Gun-ob on January 24.

Aside from new registration, the COMELEC will also cater to applications for change and correction of entry and transfer and reactivation of voters.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan also urged Oponganons to take advantage of the satellite registration so that they will no longer need to go to the COMELEC office inside the city hall.

“Mintras sayo pa, magpa-rehistro na ta! Atong tawhanong katungod nga makabotar na!” Chan said.     /rcg
