Brownouts hit southern Cebu towns as ‘Seniang’ maintains strength

Families living in coastal barangays of Sibonga and other southern towns in Cebu were moved to various evacuation sites as power interruption hit the southern towns of Cebu including Sibonga and Boljoon.

Signal number 2 was hoisted over Cebu along with Bohol and Siquijor provinces, southern Cebu, Negros Oriental, southern parts of Negros Occidental, Surigao del Norte, Siargao Island, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin and Agusan del Sur.

The state weather bureau Pagasa warned the residents in these areas that they will experience heavy to intense rains and possible flash floods. More than 8,000 passengers were stranded after 48 vessels were canceled.

Tropical storm Seniang maintained its strength and is moving west northwest towards Agusan del Norte at 11 kph as it is located 30 kilometers east of Cabadbaran City, Pagasa said.

Families in seven coastal barangays in Sibonga, some families in Dalaguete and Tuburan that are located in flood and landslide prone areas were asked to evacuate. Cebu experienced continuing rainfall and strong winds since early morning, Monday
