Mandaue gov’t employees to get P20,000 bonus

Regular employees of the Mandaue city government can  look forward in January  to a  P20,000 performance bonus.

In a special session last Monday, the City Council passed an ordinance for their  Performance Enhancement Incentive (PEI).

About 700 regular employees will receive the  benefit on top of their 14th month bonus which they started receiving last week.

Councilor Diosdado Suico who sponsored the ordinance said City Hall needs P14 million for the PEI, but so far only has  P10 million in savings.

To remedy this, the City Council will pass in its next regular session another ordinance to  realign P5 million from its unused personnel salary budget.

The amount is available because of unfilled positions in the city’s plantilla, said Suico.

Last December 2, the Department of Budget and Management issued a memorandum circular setting  guidelines in the granting of PEI to all regular government workers.
