The Social Service department of Perpetual Succour Hospital (PSH) organized another feeding program for the children in its adopted community of sitio Upper Laguerta in barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

The activity was held last July 26 in culmination of the Nutrition Month celebration and in coordination with the hospital’s Dietary and Nutrition Center.

More than 30 children benefited from the program. They were given milk samples from Pediasure and school supplies, such as pencils, notebooks and paper pads.

A lecture focusing on the theme “Gutom at malnutrisyon, sama-sama nating wakasan!” was given by PSH’s nutritionist-dietitian Mary Fe Zercilla.

The community in-charge for the outreach program was Dr. Joel Salahudin, with Dr. Lotis Galorport, both Family Medicine residents.

With the team were Sr. Veronica Alvarez from the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres, PSH’s Social Service Department head and Sr. Linabeth Abaleña, SPC, Nutrition Center head.

Every year, the Social Service department observes the celebration of Nutrition Month by reaching out to their adopted barangays and educating the residents on good and proper nutrition.
