CEBU CITY, Philippines — With five years of experience in public service, 27-year-old Dianne Padillo is ready to advance her advocacy in another stage as she represents Cebu City in the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) 2023.
Dianne, or “Yanda” to those close to her, aims to advance her advocacy for youth empowerment and leadership through the resources and opportunities brought by joining the Miss Universe Philippines pageant.
“This year is my 5th year in public service, and ever since I was elected in 2018 as the Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson of Barangay Sambag 1. It gave me a very life-changing purpose. I was so passionate to help the youth, especially those who are in need and those who are less fortunate and are deprived of quality education, and are victims of inequality and social injustice,” said Padillo, a BS tourism graduate from the University of San Carlos.
“I decided to join MUPH because I see it as a bigger and more visible venue of community and public service,” she added.
Before being part of the official candidates for the prestigious MUPH 2023, Dianne worked as a freelance model.
Her journey in the MUPH 2023 began last year when she was discovered by a stylist during a wedding of her friend which she attended.
Outside pageantry, Dianne Padillo is a loving daughter and supportive sister to her siblings.
She is also a volleyball enthusiast, and a varsity player at that.
Joining a beauty pageant isn’t new for Dianne as she joined the Binibining Cebu in 2018 landed in the Top 12.
“[Joining a pageant] is so fulfilling. I’ve learned that it takes a lot of sacrifice to join pageantry. We have to be humble and stay modest. It’s really just the most important thing right now,” Padillo told CDN Digital.
